Enjoyed it thoroughly. Wish we would of had more time to spend there.. Will definitely go back again

Another example of the many great landmarks of Virginia. The home is very nice, but the grounds and garden are beyond impressive! Some of the oaks behind the estate were surely alive when Madison was.

James Madison's Montpelier is a must see! The tour guide was very informative and kept the group engaged. The mansion is impressive and the grounds beautiful. Will definitely return in the spring to see the beautiful garden.

If you love history, you'll love this place. The tour was very informative and our guide was very knowledgeable. It's so interesting to walk through some of the same rooms where our Constitution was thought up. Also bring your hiking shoes because there are several trails that transverse the property.

My husband and daughter took the house tour while I explored the expansive grounds with our toddler. Everyone was pleased with the amount of activities available for the entire family. On a warmer day, we could have easily spent the entire day exploring the trails and exhibits. As it was, we spent over 4 hours on guided tours. The second tour we went on, "Enslaved Community," was well worth it. The outdoor walking tour given by our interpreter Russell was very informative and gave us a real sense of what life was like for Madison's slaves. The exhibit "The Mere Distinction of Color" was also well done. We will definitely return when our children our older and will get even more out of the experience.
